Reflecting the Light of the Holy Spirit

"The light of the righteous shines brightly...." (Proverbs 13:9 NIV).  Iridescence is the ability to reflect Christ-likeness on all sides--physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  As we maintain an intimate relationship with Christ, He allows us to be a shining mirror, a reflection of His glory in all we say and do.

The question you might ask is How do we reflect Christ-likeness, physically and emotionally?  We might consider for the moment that we have an idea about reflecting Christ-likeness spiritually, and since the spiritual side of life is the most important let us take time today to examine our spiritual side first.

In order for us to reflect Christ-likeness or we could rephrase it, Christian behavior, Christian thought, Christian beliefs; and if we are going to reflect Christ in our lives spiritually the basics that we must discover is our spiritual relationship with Him.

What ideas do you have in developing a relationship?  Now take a couple of minutes and fit or blend those relationship ideas in with the Christ relationship.  I would like to share a few of my thoughts, my beliefs of how we can develop a spiritual relationship with our Savior.

The scriptures tell us that if we are in Christ we are heirs to the promises of God.  In Christ we live, we move, and we have our being.  If your mind is filled with the will, the ways, the realities of God, your thoughts are the thoughts that He has; His ways of how life should be is our choice of living,  His ways of being right and true are our ways of choosing to live right and be true.  The only way we can begin to know the will of God, the ways of God, the right choices that God has for us is to learn the thoughts that He has toward us.

God never changes, that is good news.  We know He doesn’t change, therefore we can take our scripture and study for ourselves the ways that God would have us go.  You might think or ponder contemplating how you could possibly understand the scriptures and learn the ways of God.  Christ died for you and for me. We now live on this earth with a plan for us all to receive the fullness of our salvation.  Salvation is multifaceted, and the direction we are meditating on today is how we can learn his ways through scripture.

When Christ was raised from the dead He left a few commands for us to follow.  Make disciples teaching them of His ways but for us to not do anything until we receive the promise of the Holy Spirit.  In the book of Acts we learn that those disciples did just that, they waited for the Holy Spirit.  The day the Holy Spirit came the Bible says that His spirit filled all that were gathered.  Today we still wait for the Holy Spirit to fill our lives.  Jesus said that the Holy Spirit is our helper, our comforter, our teacher; and that He would lead us into all truth.  So when we read the scripture we understand that the teachings that are written were written for the saints; and. since we are the saints and we understand and believe although our situations may vary, our problems still exist that faced the early church.

As we read and study the New Testament we gain insight revealed to us through the Holy Spirit. He teaches us the ways we should go, but we have to take time to read the scriptures to learn the principles that are recorded for our betterment.  We read, we study, we seek His divine counsel and guidance according to the scriptures.

The ways of God are recorded and taught to each of us through divine connections with and through the present day ministry of the Holy Spirit.  We become more God-inside minded when we learn the word of God and apply the principles to our lives.

I am not suggesting that we can do all of this alone.  God has set up the church in a way that we can be taught by the Holy Spirit and through our church leaders.  We have been given leaders that are called by God and teach us.  Through the office of pastor we learn the avenue of our direction that God would have us follow.  The pastor. the leader and guide for the people in his care, being filled with the Spirit of God learns and teaches us through study, prayer, and fellowship.  We have the opportunity to receive the word of the Lord by and through the Holy Spirit through the pastoral office.

Another area of spreading the Gospel is the Spirit-filled evangelist, and through their ministry we are taught by and through the Holy Spirit.  We are given many teachers that work in the ministry to bring enlightenment by and through the Holy Spirit.

Today pray and meditate and listen to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit as He guides you to an area in spreading the gospel that God has called you to fulfill.

“Father I pray that today we will be open to hear and receive instruction from you and those that you have called into our lives to speak to us and be aware of the needs that you qualify and call us to fulfill.  Father, I pray that your people will desire to read and understand your word and intently listen to your instruction.  I pray that the hearts and minds of those who are willing to obey will hear your voice today and follow the leadings and promptings of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name we pray.  Amen”
